Prep Cook

Littleton, New Hampshire - Full-time.

About the Job:

Schilling Beer Co. is seeking a dedicated Prep Cook in a part-time or full-time capacity. The ideal candidate should be able to work quickly and efficiently in the kitchen, maintain a positive and detailed approach to their work, and possess the ability to maintain and operate a clean, sanitary, and well-organized kitchen. Prior prep kitchen experience is a plus.

Expectations & Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, cutting, baking, pickling and organizing food for Schilling’s restaurant operations; putting food orders away; washing prep pots and pans; etc.
  • Prioritizing based on need and volume requirements and work from prep lists.
  • Slicing meats, cheeses and vegetables.
  • Organizing and stocking food and food products, as well as executing recipes that we currently make in-house.
  • Using a robot-coupe food processor, immersion blender, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Cooking and roasting meats and vegetables throughout any given shift.
  • Going up and down stairs somewhat and routinely lifting 50+ lbs above shoulder level.
  • Providing awareness of expiration dates of food.
  • Maintaining and operating a clean and organized kitchen/ work area.
  • Following food service & sanitation guidelines and complying with all State of NH standards.
  • Collaborating with the back of house team, and management to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
  • Maintaining deep cleaning tasks throughout the shift, as well as cleaning various dishes

Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this role possesses:

  • Servsafe certification, kitchen experience, and culinary school experience are all highly regarded.
  • A positive, upbeat attitude and a friendly demeanor, including during fast-paced service. 
  • A willingness to support in various ways beyond the kitchen when/if needed (organizing, cleaning, clearing tables, restocking glassware and dishes, etc).
  • Strong initiative–i.e. going above and beyond without being asked– a passion for details, and delivering exceptional results.
  • Open and flexible availability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends/holidays.
  • The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • 1-2 years of cooking/prep experience.

Pay: $18.00 per hour to start, plus sales-based gratuities, with advancement after 3 months for hard-working and dependable employees.
